Wife of Joseph Leopold.
"Aged 92 YRS 10 MO"
The Reading Eagle Newspaper of Berks County carried her obituary November 13, 1895, page 2. Column "Pottstown". As follows:
Mrs. Sarah Leopold died at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 17 days, at the home of her son Jonas Leopold, East Coventry, Chester County. Her husband Joseph Leopold died over 30 year ago.
Six children survive, as follows: Jonas Leopold of East Coventry; Joseph and Samuel Leopold of Nebraska; Daniel Leopold of Lancaster County; Mrs. Sarah A. Turner of Pottstown; and Mrs. Mary Stoneback, who had been living with her aged parent for several years.
Mrs. Leopold was born in Trappe and her maiden name was Sarah Zimmerman. Her father was born in Germany, but during a war in that Country emigrated to the United States to escape a draft in the German army. Here he met her mother, whose ancestors were English. In her younger days, Mrs. Leopold was an excellent spinner with the old-fashioned wheel and delighted to tell her children's children how the housewives made their skeins of flax, which they took to the weaver and had made into material for toweling, sheets and other fabrics. Funeral Friday at 10 o'clock. Internment at Union Meeting house.
