He was born Jan. 29, 1918, the son of Ovando and Ethel (Ruddell) Spencer.
He served in the U.S. Army European Theater during World War II. He owned and operated Spencer Asphalt from the 1960's until his retirement in 1995.
He was a member of the Overland Park Christian Church. He married the former Alice Roe in 1948. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Marcus R. Spencer and a daughter, Carol L. Spencer, both of Leavenworth.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at the W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home of Olathe. Burial will follow in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.
