PEARCE, ROBERT McINTYRE, died on September 27, 2005, in Auburn, Lee Co., AL. Bob will be buried with his wife, Betsy, on December 8, 2005, in Arlington Cemetery. Bob was born on November 18, 1919, in Louisville, KY, to Mary McIntyre Pearce and William Bodley Pearce. Bob was a descendant of George Rogers Clark and Jonathan Clark, two of the early settlers of Louisville. He attended the University of Louisville, graduated from West Point on June 6, 1944 and received a M.S. from NYU in 1948. Bob was married to Betsy Yow Pearce, of High Point, NC, for 61 years. Betsy died on October 9, 2005. He was also preceded in death by their son, Mac, in 1999 from cancer caused by exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. Survivors include a daughter, Perry Elizabeth Pearce Benton; and son, David Yow Pearce; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; nephew William Clark Pearce; and nieces, Sally Pearce Jessel of Louisville, and Sue Patton Pearce, of Walton, KY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Superintendent's Fund, United States Military Academy, 698 Mills Rd., West Point, NY, 10966, in memory of Robert M. Pearce, Class of 1944.
