Louise Irene Boyd Temple, 96, of Magnolia, passed away, Saturday, September 24, 2016 at her residence.
She was born June 28, 1920 in Pike County. She was the daughter of James T. “Jim” Boyd, Sr. and Wilena Crittenden Boyd.
She and her husband, Harvey Temple, Sr. married in 1938 and moved to Magnolia from McComb where she began her life on the dairy farm and began raising their five children. She learned to sew clothes, raise flowers, raise a garden and tended cows.
In 1966 her husband passed away and she began work at Gibson Pharmacy then remained there after the store was purchased by Howard Brothers. Later on, she began working at Sav-On-Drugs and then at Thrift Drugs. After many years in pharmacy work, she retired at age 65. She then began a part time job at the Percy Quin Park Store where she worked for 10 years and totally retired at age 75.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s Methodist Church and later in life attended Unity Baptist Church where she enjoyed her Sunday School class and Ladies Bible study group and the fellowship of the church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey Franklin Temple, Sr.; a son, Larry Richard Temple, Sr.; two sons-in-law, Joel G. Smith and James C. Whittington; three brothers, J.T. Boyd, Jr., Charles Boyd and John Jackson “J.J.” Boyd and five sisters, Amelia Boyd Bacon, Mary Boyd Kuykendall, Dorothy Boyd Ballew, Johnny Pearl McDaniel and Edith Boyd Bishop.
She is survived by one son, three daughters, one sister, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, numerous loving nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
Burial will be in Magnolia cemetery.
