Mary Katherine "Kitty" (Richie) Rhoades died due to pneumonia Saturday, June 18, 2016 in Madison surrounded by her family.

Kitty was born April 7, 1951 in Hudson, Wisconsin, the oldest of seven children and only daughter of George and Joan Richie. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1969, received her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls in 1973 and a master's degree in Education from Illinois State University in 1978.

On June 21, 1974 Kitty married Frank Rhoades, and to this union were born three sons.

In 1998, Kitty was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly. She retired from the state Assembly in 2010, and took a position with the administration of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker in 2011 as Deputy Secretary of the Department of Health Services.

She is preceded in death by her father, George; sister-in-law, Jeanne Richie; and niece Chloe Richie. She is survived by her husband Frank, sons, Chris (Nicole), Matt (Lisa), and Mike (Janine); mother Joan; brothers David, Tony, John, Mike, Matt, and Joe; and many relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with a visitation held one hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Hudson.
