Services for Eddie G. Underwood, 94, of Dimmitt, were held Wednesday afternoon at Foskey Funeral Home's Ivey Chapel with Rev. Vernon O'Kelley, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial followed in Castro Memorial Gardens under the direction of Foskey Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Mr. Underwood died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Plains Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born on Feb. 7, 1896, in Wyatt, Okla., and had been a Dimmitt resident since 1952, moving here from Earth. He married Grace Brown on June 4, 1925, in Lorenzo. She died in March 1981.

He was a retired farmer and was a veteran of the Army, having served in World War I. He had been a member of the Oddfellow Lodge for 70 years.

Survivors include two sons, Doyl of Dimmitt, Roy Dale of Slaton; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kent Lindsey, Roger Underwood, Danny Underwood, Willie Porsch, Randy Schumacher and Lee Baggett.

The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
