Ruth Irene Elming Waters, 93, died at 5:45 PM Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Rosewalk Village, following a two-year illness. The daughter of the late Charles O. and Clara L. (Osterling) Elming, she was born Feb. 23, 1908, near West Point, and was a 1926 graduate of West Point High School. She was married to Howard A. Waters on September 30, 1939, in Lafayette, IN; he died June 30, 1995.
Mrs. Waters, a life-long Lafayette area resident, was a homemaker. She was a member of Stockwell United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Order of Eastern Star, Hope Chapter 5.
Surviving are three sisters, Charlene Pendleton of Romney, Alta DeFreese, and Mary Peak, both of West Lafayette; also several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
