Lucille R. Berndt, (you may have known her as "Fadz"), who was born on October 17th, 1918, entered eternal life on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. Her spirit is carried on and her memory will be cherished by her surviving children; Richard; Mary (Wayne) Johnson; Tom (Jan); John (Julie); and Jerry (Sue); 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by other relatives and many very dear friends.

She is in the Oshkosh Hall of Fame because of her softball pitching and hitting skills. In 1937 she was on the Oshkosh All-Stars team which reached the semifinals in the State Tournament. In 1939, she played for the Wisconsin Team at the National Tournament at Soldiers Field in Chicago. They had a 15 win/5 loss record with 3 losses and 4 victories against men's teams. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Lucille during her 97 years, among them: Laughter is one of life's best medicine. Her laugh has always been contagious. She did her best to make the best of every situation that life brought to her. In the Parkview Health Center dining room, along with leading her friends in prayer, she was often telling stories, singing songs, and telling jokes to those at her table. She was also known for her great cooking. She made many special treats including dumplings and grophens. Her family looked forward to Thanksgiving dinners. While playing cards with her family and friends, or actually any time, she has been known to break out into songs that sometimes did not sound like English. We actually found some of those songs online. Others are still a mystery. All the ways she made us laugh and helped us enjoy life will always be with us. Lucille is reunited with her husband, Victor Berndt who passed in 1998 and a son, Danny who passed in 1980 and all of her siblings; brothers, John, Joe, Tony, Carl and Mike Schroeder; sisters, Louise Neubauer, Anne Schipper, Liz Schroeder, Sister Theodean and Marge Hartman. Lucille will be greatly missed and will remain unforgettable in our hearts forever.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Lucille on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Jude Parish, St. Vincent Catholic Church, the corner of Oregon St. and W. South Park Ave. in Oshkosh with the Reverends Matt Simonar and William Van DeKreeke as celebrants. A time of visitation will be held at the Pokasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park Ave. in Oshkosh from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday evening, June 19th and also again on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
