Ruth V. Peterson
Mrs. Ruth Viola PETERSON, 80, Winamac, died Thursday in Woodlawn
hospital. She had been in failing health two years.
Born Dec. 12, 1890, in Monterey, she was the daughter of Charles
and Amanda OVERMYER BITTERLING. Her marriage was Nov. 30, 1911,
in Rocheter, to Justice Joseph PETERSON. He died May 16, 1962.
Mrs. Peterson had resided in the Winamac community six years,
moving from Monterey. She was a member of the St. Lukes Lutheran
church in Winamac and the Ladies Aid of the church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ferne MITCHELL, Winamac, and
Mrs. Eileen ADAMS, Logansport; two sons, Verl PETERSON, Monterey,
and Deane PETERSON, Leiters Ford; thirteen grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles BITTERLING, Rochester,
and George BITTERLING, Kewanna; one sister, Mrs. Valentine
REINHOLD Sr., Monterey.
Final rites will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the St. Luke Lutheran
church in Winamac. The Rev. William A. KOEPPEL will officiate.
Burial will be in the McKinley Memorial Gardens at Winamac.
Friends may call at the Fry-Lanage funeral home in Winamac until
noon on Saturday and at the church prior to services.
