Kewanna - Services for Deane J. Peterson, 83, Lake Bruce, will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday in Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, 123 E. Main St., Kewanna. Born Oct. 8, 1925 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Justice J. and Ruth Bitterling Peterson. On June 30, 1948, he married Anajean Young, who survives. Deane was a 1944 Monterey High School graduate and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also an avid deer hunter. He retired in 1989 from General Transfer Co. in Rochester. Also surviving are his sons, Don L. Peterson and his wife, Jovy, Kewanna, and Dwight R. Peterson and his wife, Venita, Winamac; daughter, Vivian A. Peterson, Kewanna; nine grandchildren, Daniel J. Peterson, James Peterson, Rendall Lawson, Joshua Lawson, Kori Peterson, Blayne Peterson, Jenny Peterson, Joemer Peterson and JeeAnn Peterson; and one great-grandchild, Quintin Peterson. Deane was preceded in death by two brothers, Verl and Wayne Peterson, and two sisters, Fern Mitchell and Eileen Adams. Rev. Steven McPeek will officiate. Burial, with military rites, will be conducted at Moon Cemetery, Kewanna. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home and one hour prior to the time of service on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice, P.O. Box 621, Rochester, IN 46975.
