He is survived by six children, Eileen Balch and husband John, Keith Morris and wife Debbie, Diana Booth and husband Durwin, Van Morris and girlfriend Cheryl, Pat Santee and husband Lenny, and Dwight Morris; four siblings, Monoka Morris, Dolores Michael Wade, Ruby Tengea and husband John, Russell Morris and wife Terri; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Retha Mae (Carpenter) Morris; four siblings, Erma Williams, Hallie Corbin, Bonnie Dennison, and Joseph “Buck” Morris.
Virgil was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family was his life. He cherished them and they all loved him very much in return. He was always a hard worker, and put out a big garden in his younger years.
He was a member of the Farmington Church of Christ, United Mine Workers of America, and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. During his service, he traveled many places in the world including Ft. Thomas, KY, Nashville, TN, Memphis, TN, Ft. Bragg, NC, Las Angeles, CA, the South Pacific, china, and India.
Virgil worked for Bethlehem Steel, Eastern Associated Coal Co., Consolidated Coal Co., Idamay, Barrackville, Rachel, and Federal II Coal Mines.
Virgil chose to donate his body to the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
