Dorothy Schweikhart Carter, 90, died January 1, 1997 in Redmond, Washington.

She was born November 5, 1906 in Salt Lake City to Henry A. and Nellie Cook Schweikhart. She graduated from East High School and attended Mills College in Oakland, California. In 1928 she married Samuel J. Carter, who preceded her in death in 1970. In 1976 she moved to Bellevue, Washington.

During her years in Salt Lake City she was active in Junior League, the Utah Symphony, Civic Music, Neighborhood House and the Altar Guild of St. Mark's Cathedral.

She is survived by her daughter, Anne (John) Hopkin, Salt Lake City; her son, James A. (Patricia) Carter, Kirkland, Washington; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997 at Mount Olivet Cemetery at 1 p.m.

The family suggests contributions may be made to Rowland Hall-St. Mark's School.
