Louise Schottler Stern by Jeanne Hoppe Pedriana on 18 Mar 2009 " Louise and her husband, Adam Stern, ran a grocery store at the turn of the century on 7th Street, in Milwaukee, Wi. At the turn of the century you could get along very well in Milwaukee's North Side neighborhoods speaking only German. There were German clubs of all sorts, newspapers, singing and theater groups. It was a lively and growing town with many German style beer halls and breweries that served the Nation. A little Munich on Lake Michigan. The Sterns, in this neighborhood would have had as many German speaking customers as English speaking, they would have to know how to deal with both.
They had one daughter, Luella born Nov. 4, 1895, she married William Rohlfing and had 3 children. Fredric in 1917, Dorothy in 1919, and Paula in 1922. Luella Schottler Stern died on Aug. 27, 1983
Fredric went on to have 8 children and died in 1974.
Dorothy married Homer Foy and had 3 children
Paula was unmarried.
