James J Burns Taken by Death.
James Joseph Burns, 65. night desk clerk at the Central YMCA for the past two years, died yesterday morning at 12:15 o'clock at his home 225 Emily Street of pneumonia after an illness of one week. A native of this city, he was a son of the late James and Jane (Tole) Burns. Engaged in the hotel business all his life, Mr Burns was a former manager of the Galloway Hotel, Elkins and the Maryland Hotel here. He was also employed by the Queen Hotel and for over thirty years was a desk clerk at the Windsor Hotel. He was a lifelong member of St Patrick's Catholic Church and of the Holy Name Society of the church. Besides his widow, Mrs Nina Burns, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs Edith Wolfington, Miss Marguerite Burns, and Miss Virginia Burns; one son, James Burns, all at home and one brother, Frank, Chicago. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at 9 o'clock in St Patrick's Catholic Church by Rev Thomas A Hardesty, assistant pastor. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
