Mildred Adams, 81, of Wawaka died Friday, June 10, 2016, in North Ridge Village, Albion where she had resided for the last 1 ½ years.

She had lived in this area since 1955, coming from Detroit.

Mrs. Adams was a homemaker.

Mildred enjoyed gardening, being outside, and walking three miles every day. While at North Ridge Village, she also enjoyed caring for other residents and playing Bingo. But most of all, she dearly loved spending time with and caring for her grandchildren.

She was born August 31, 1934, in Cornettsville, Kentucky, to Culbert and Vera (Dixon) Campbell.

On April 26, 1952, in Detroit she married Billy R. Adams. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1999.

Surviving are two daughters, Rita Combs of Wawaka and Teresa (Aaron) Kloepper of Wawaka; a son-in-law, Skip Altimus of Wawaka; seven grandchildren, Chrissy (Gary) Gayheart, Bernie Musser, Amanda (Dave McClure) Altimus, Holly (Aaron) Krick, Dustin (Danielle) Combs, Amy (James) Fugate, and Autumn Kloepper; 16 great-grandchildren, Dillon Stanley, Paige Stanley, MaKayla Gayheart, Brandon Gayheart, Ashlie Gayheart, Noah Musser, Hannah Musser, Hailey Musser, Cody (Alishia) Musser, McKenna Krick, Xander Krick, Haley McClure, Michelle McClure, Mason McClure, Sophia Combs, and Carter Combs; two great-great-grandchildren, Grayson Gayheart and Onika Musser; two sisters, Bernice Smith of Kentucky and Opal Harper of Kendallville; and three brothers, Elzie Campbell of Wawaka, Glenn Campbell of Rome City, and Mearle (Lydia) Campbell of Kentucky.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Altimus; a grandson, Skippy Altimus; and two brothers, Lloyd Campbell and Herman Campbell.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at 10 a.m. in Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, 2900 E 1150 N-57, Wolcottville with Pastor Billy Fields officiating.

Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.

Honorary pallbearer is Dillon Stanley. Active pallbearers are Aaron Krick, Bernie Musser, Dustin Combs, Gary Gayheart, Cody Musser, and Dave McClure.

Calling is Monday, June 13, 2016, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the church.

Preferred memorials are to North Ridge Village Nursing and Rehabilitation, 600 Trail Ridge Road, Albion, Indiana, 46701.
