William GRIFFIN was born in St. Mark's Parish, in the High Hills areas of the Santee, South Carokina in 1754, a son of Joseph GRIFFIN 1710-1764, and of his second wife, Ann ELDERS GRIFFIN HOLMES, 1730 - , she the daughter of William ELDERS, 1699-1748, a Cherokee Indian Trader.
