Insley Roy b. 25 Aug 1751 was taxed in 1775 at Bedminster, Somerset County, New Jersey. He served as wagonmaster in the American Revolution. “Received of Insley Roy, two pounds and five shillings for ferrying his team of four horses in public service on his return carrying the baggage of the British prisoners taken at Stony Point.” “Ensley Roy with his wagon and team was employed in carrying the sick of the prisoners of war taken at Stony Point on their march to this place eight days and discharged about one hundred miles from home.” Philadelphia, August 2,1779. Insley was operating a drug store at Fredon in Sussex County in 1780. The family resided at Fredon and Insley d. 12 Sept 1814 63y 17d buried Yellow Frame Cemetery, no memorial marker. Intestate, 8 Nov 1814, Insley Roy of Hardwick, Sussex County. Inventory of $2,224.42 includes cooper tools, sworn to by Isabellah Roy, Charles Roy and William Roy. Administration on estate granted 14 Nov 1814. “Received April 1, 1819 from William Roy one of the heirs of Isabelle Roy, dec'd, one dollar in full, it being for digging grave of said dec'd - Isaac Agney.” Estate of Insley and Isabella Roy located in Hardwick Township and heirs-at-law (some minors under 21) being: Ann Roy wife of Jacob Hull, Elsey Roy, Charles Roy, William Roy, Margaret Roy wife of Jacob Grover, Ira C. Roy, and Robert G. Roy. Dated 21 Aug 1819 and recorded 30 June 1835. Some of the real estate had descended to Isabelle on the death of her father, Charles Rhodes.
