Dennis Cleaver, 69, of Amarillo formerly of Dimmitt passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 in Amarillo. A family and friend visitation will be held in memory of Dennis on Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Dimmitt, Texas. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Dennis was born June 22, 1946 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to D.L. and Rachel Cleaver. Dennis graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1964 and from West Texas State in 1968 with a degree in accounting. In 1968 he served in the United States Army and served until 1970. Dennis was an accountant in Amarillo since 1972. He married Betsy Simpson in 1974. He volunteered with Make-A-Wish foundation in Amarillo. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and his family and friends will always remember him as a fun, loving man.

He is survived by his son, Jeremy Cleaver and wife Donna of Clayton, North Carolina, two sisters, Beth Odom and husband Glenn of Dimmitt and Eloise Varner and husband Jerry of Irving, a grandson, Cody Cleaver of Amarillo; three step-grandchildren Eric and Sean Baur and Jordan Jones; a sister-in-law, Kay Cleaver of Amarillo and a brother-in-law, Bennie Simpson and his wife Cindy of Canyon, several nieces and nephews, and a lifelong friend Dan Petty of Dimmitt

He is preceded in death by his parents, D.L and Rachel Cleaver, his wife Betsy Cleaver, a brother Gary Cleaver and a grandson, Harley Cleaver.
