John H. Arnold, age 89, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Johnson County, Tennessee on April 4, 1927 to the late Clarence and Alice Snyder Arnold. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Beth Arnold, who passed away on June 18, 1981; sisters: Mabel Arnold, Arzella Combs, Hallie Greer, Ruth Craven and brothers: Glen, Ray, Wade, Loyd and Boyd 'Bud' Arnold.

John was a Korean War Veteran having honorably served in the United States Army.

Following his military career, he worked on a ranch in Oregon for several years and then in construction, where he operated heavy equipment. John worked hard to provide for his family and took great pride in his work.

He served as Johnson County Commissioner and Alderman for Mountain City, TN.

He was a Member and Deacon of First Baptist Church.

John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Sue Smith Arnold; sons: Johnny Arnold and wife Debbie and Randy Arnold; brothers: Earl, JD, JR and Ronnie Arnold; grandchildren: April Arnold and Jonathan Arnold and wife Ashley; special friends: Carl Trivette, Keith Wilson, John Lowe, Carl Williams and Garland Miller and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Sunset Memorial Park with Pastors Harry Wills and Ricky Campbell officiating. Pallbearers will be John Davis, Steve Arnold, Jonathan Arnold, Danny Arnold, Frank Arnold and Neil Arnold. Honorary pallbearers are Garland Miller, Keith Wilson, John Lowe, Carl Williams and Bob Heck.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's memory may be made to the Johnson County Cancer Support Group, c/o Flo Bellamy, 3510 Hwy 421 N., Mountain City, TN 37683.

The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to the Staff of Amedysis Hospice, especially to John's Nurse Angie Wills for their care and compassion.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 1290 S. Shady Street, Mountain City, TN.
