Junior L. Bowser, 93, of Kittanning died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in Veterans Hospital in Butler. He was born March 23, 1923 in Huey to Clinton “Mose” and Floda “Curly” (Bobbert) Bowser. Mr. Bowser was a retired lifelong coal miner and member of United Mine Workers District 2. An U.S. Navy World War II veteran, he served in the South Pacific on the USS Tennessee. He was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy. An avid gardener, he loved giving away his produce and camping at Tionesta. Survivors include five children, Sharon (Walter) Flick of Cowansville, Richard (Darlene) Bowser of Parker, Sandra (Thomas) Agar of Kittanning, Coleen (James) Berkoben of New Eagle, and Brian Bowser of Kittanning; 13 grandchildren, Stephanie Flick of Leechburg, Heather (Jay) Kempf of Springboro, Ohio, the Rev. Jason (Amy) Bowser of North Carolina, Steve (Mindy) Breski of Sarver, Clayton (Tracy) Flick of Cowansville, Nicole (Brad) Long of Kittanning, Jeremy (Tara) Bowser of Parker, Justin Berkoben and Kristi Mosco, both of New Eagle, Karen (Randy) Rumbarger and David Bowser, all of Rimersburg, Jamie (Dustin) Brandt of Kittanning, and Jordan (Steve) Mellor of Verona; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Garnet Van Dyke of Boyers and Janet (Jim) Fair of Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen “Louise” Bowser, who died in 2012; one infant daughter, Karen Joyce Bowser; four sisters, Geraldine George, Leona Bowser, Violet Bowser, and Jeannie Bowser; and five brothers, Ernest, Henry, Dewey, Foster, and Norman Bowser. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Additional viewing will be from 10 a.m. Saturday at the New Athens Church of God of Prophecy on Route 68 in Rimersburg until the time of services at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Scott Kifer and the Rev. Jason R. Bowser co-officiating. Interment will be in Rimerburg Cemetery.
