Funeral service for Samuel Rabun Thompson (Sam), age 77, of Cadwell, will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 13, 2016, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Rev. Greg Lowery and Rev. Joey Diers will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Mr. Thompson died Friday, June 10, 2016.
Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Georgia College and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and Baker Baptist Church. He retired from Rockwell Automation and was co-owner of Limesink Creek Honey. Mr. Thompson designed and drew up construction plans for many homes and businesses throughout Laurens County and surrounding areas. He was an avid beekeeper who was dedicated to the preservation of honey bees and sharing that knowledge with others. Locally, he was known as "The Beeman". He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading and anything else that involved nature and being outdoors.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee and Nellie Bond Thompson; sister, Barbara Faye Thompson; nephew Chuck Thompson; and great nephew, Brett Michael Graham.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his memory be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church or Baker Baptist Church.
