Dawson William Dill Sr., 86, of 409 Mount Vernon Road, died Jan. 25, 2005, in Martinez, Ga.

A native of Greenville County, he was the son of the late William and Leila Holtzclaw Dill. Mr. Dill's job endeavors included textiles, farming, owner and operator of Dill's Par 3 and Putt Putt course, and part owner of Dill's Creek Commons shopping center. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, was a lifetime member of the Bailey Lodge, was a Hejaz Shriner, and was a former Sunday school teacher.

Surviving are his wife, Loead Vaughn Dill of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Dawson W. Dill Jr. and Lila S. Dill of Greer; a daughter and son-in-law, Lanell Dill Lovett and Charlie Lovett Sr. of Martinez, Ga.; a brother and sister-in-law, Brooks and Virginia Dill of Charleston, S.C.; three sisters, Mabel Hodges of Greer, Lillian Meyers of Greenville, S.C., and Marie Wood of Greer; three grandsons, Charlie Lovett Jr. and his wife, Alice, Marcus Lovett and his wife, Cheryl, and Anthony Lovett and his wife, Debbie; and seven great-grandchildren, Charlie Lovett III, Carol Amber Lovett, Carter Allison Lovett, Molly Lanell Lovett, Erin Marie Lovett, Amiee Smith, and Brittney Smith.

Mr. Dill was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Tarpley.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Fairview Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Paul M. Welch and Rev. James Crocker. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Lovett Jr., Marcus Lovett, Anthony Lovett, Charlie Lovett III, Steve Wood, Michael Dill and Richard Dill.

Honorary escort will be the Dewey Calvert Sunday School Class, Ben Lynn, Babb Lynn, Bill Vaden, Don Wall, Verne Smith and William Hewitt.

The family is at the home.
