West Manchester Township—Samuel G. Reese of West Manchester Township died at 9:35 a.m. Dec. 24 at Memorial Hospital. He was 89. He retired in 1971 as a painter from the former B.M. Root Co., York, and was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church, York, where he was an elder emeritus and had been head elder for many years.
Born in York, Nov. 1, 1909, (celebrated Nov. 2nd until he applied for social security and had to get his birth certificate), he was a son of the late Harry A. and Matilda Lark Reese.
He leaves his wife, Pauline S. Shermeyer Reese; five daughters, Dorothy R. May, Manchester; Marilynn E. Shorts, Dover; Eileen M. Rode, York Haven; Anita R. Heisig, Madison, Wis.; and Julie A. Thomas, Mount Wolf; two sons, Samuel L. Reese, York; and John C. Reese, Manchester; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and two brothers, O. Paul Reese, Eustis, Fla., and Roy W. Reese, York.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
