Albert Harvey Gaskins, 87, of Alapaha, died Wednesday May 23, 2018 at his residence.

He was born November 18, 1930 in Berrien County to the late Albert Hardie Gaskins and the late Lilla Bradford Gaskins. He retired from St. Regis Paper Company in Jacksonville, FL and attended St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. He was a humble, kind and hard-working man who always put his family first. He served in the Air Force and excelled in several trades, including building two homes with his own hands. He was kind, patient, loving, strong and funny. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years: Georgia Clara Gaskins; son: Albert Thomas (Buddy) Gaskins; 2 sisters: Estill Irene Gaskins and Mary Frances Rowe.

He is survived by 3 daughters: Brenda (Dannie) Thornton of Jacksonville, FL, Sandra (Jimmy) Starling of Starke, FL and Joyce Rowe Jones of Hahira; son: Stephen Gaskins of Cleveland, TN; 8 grandchildren: Joseph Gaskins, Melissa Thornton (Joe) Hott, Crystal (Missy) Thornton, Dannie Thornton, Jr, Jennifer Starling, Brennan Starling, Austin Gaskins and Spencer Gaskins; 6 great grandchildren; sister: Gloria Gaskins (Mal) Ferrell and their son: Eric (Susan) Ferrell; sisters-in-law: Nellie Smith, Marie Mathis and Vanita Steverson; brothers-in-law: Billy (Louise) Steverson and Lamar (Gail) Steverson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday May 26, 2018 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Garvie Nichols, Jr, Rev. Joe Hott and the Rev. Jackie Connell officiating. Interment was in the St. Luke Cemetery. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
