R.A. was the son of Wyatt Hester and Mary Ann Allen. He m: 11 Oct 1849 Rhody J. Medford in Rusk county, TX. He was shot and Killed in Church.

"The Waco Register" of the 5th inst. has received intelligence of an awful affair in Bosque County.
Last Sunday at church at a school house, N. Harvick commonly known as Doc, shot and killed Robert A. Hester and four years old son. Last winter, Hester accidently killed a son of Harvick, mistaking him for an Indian. Hester was one of the most estimable citizens of the county.
