Gerald (Jerry) Dean Munsch, 81, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Ness County Hospital, Ness City. He was born Jan. 24, 1934, southwest of Bazine to Henry and Catherine (Depperschmidt) Munsch.

He married Clara Rose Quint on Oct. 22, 1960, in Ness City.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving for two years. Upon returning home, he worked as a mechanic. For 30 years, he worked for the power company as a lineman and line foreman, retiring in 1995 as the district manager for West Plains Energy. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 152, Ness City, Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council No. 2624, Bishop Marion F Forst Fourth Degree Assembly 1285 Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Church choir for 40 years, sexton for Sacred Heart Cemetery, former member of Rotary Club of Ness City, Ness County Country Club and served two terms on the city council
of Ness City.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Kirk Munsch and wife, Alice, California, Md., Kris Munsch, Hays, and Jeff Munsch and wife, Tammy, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Melissa Dewey and husband, Jeff, North Platte, Neb.; three brothers, Lawrence and Harry Munsch, both of Cheyenne Wells, Colo., and Robert Munsch and wife, Mary Ann, Lawrence; eight grandchildren, Payton Dewey, Sarah Munsch, Isaak Munsch, Avery Munsch, Alex Depperschmidt, Payne Dewey, Ethan Depperschmidt and Pake Dewey.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe, Edwin, Ralph and LeRoy Munsch; three sisters, Velma Boltz, Arlene Hanan and Wanita Reinert; and a grandson, Blake Munsch.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, Ness City; cremation will take place after funeral Mass; private burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be until 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, both at Fitzgerald Funeral Home Ness City. A vigil/rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
