Aged Gloster Resident Dies
The burial services of Mr. John Upton were held in the Mendenhall cemetery Sunday afternoon after a brief service in his niece's home, Mrs. D. C. Hall of Mendenhall. The services were conducted by the Pastors of the Mendenhall and Magee Baptist Churches.
Mr. John Upton, who was seventy years of age, died in the home of his son, Joe Upton of Gloster, Saturday night. Funeral services was held in the Baptist Church of Gloster Sunday morning before his body was brought here.
Mr. Upton was born in Smith County and he lived many years in Simpson County at Magee. He was well known through this part of the state and has many friends in Simpson County who mourns the passing. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
His immediate family that survives him are: his wife, and three children, Joe Upton of Gloster, Warren Upton, and Miss Luna Upton of Memphis, Tenn. His mother and several brothers and sisters also survive.
