Roy Michael Shedrick of Yukon, Oklahoma and affectionately known as 'Mike', 'Dad', 'Poppa Mike' and 'Uncle Mike', entered eternal life on Monday, October 30, 2006, after a very courageous battle with cancer.

Mike was born on April 2, 1940 to Roy Max and Donna (Caruthers) Shedrick in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mike attended Edmond Public Schools and was an outstanding athlete while there. He graduated from Weatherford High School in Weatherford, Oklahoma and entered college at Southwestern State University in Weatherford.

After college, Mike joined the family jewelry businesses and managed family jewelry stores in Oklahoma City, Okmulgee, and Stillwater, Oklahoma. After leaving the retail jewelry business, Mr. Shedrick had a long career in the wholesale jewelry business retiring from the Nirvana Inc. of Tulsa, Oklahoma in August, 2006. He achieved multiple awards for outstanding leadership and salesmanship during these thirty two years. He was very well respected by all of his business associates across Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas. Mike has also been a Stillwater Developer and was a partner in Shedrick Management, L.L.C.

Mike was married to Mary Bernice Link Shedrick, a Stillwater attorney. They divorced in 1995 but have remained good friends and business partners since their divorce.

Mike was a former member of the Stillwater Golf and Country Club, the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce, the First Baptist Church of Stillwater, a founding member of the Stillwater Industrial Foundation, past President of Yost Lake Country Club, a member of the Stillwater Lions Club and the Stillwater Elks Club. He also enjoyed a 'seat' at his friends local noon card game in Stillwater. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and horse racing.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carol Ann Shedrick Tresner and a son, Michael Scott Shedrick. He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Shedrick Hayes and his son-in-law, Roger W. Hayes of Stillwater; his son, Steven L. Shedrick and his daughter-in-law, Denise Shedrick of Plano, TX; his grandchildren, Lindsey and Dustin Hayes of Stillwater and Hunter Shedrick of Plano, TX; his long time dear friend and companion, Bobbie Steenbergen of Yukon, OK.; brothers-in-law, A.D. Burtschi and wife Jacque and John Link and wife Janet; two cousins, Rhonda Shedrick Ross and J.K. Shedrick; many nieces and nephews; grand nieces and grand nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

Services for Mike will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Stillwater. Bro. Tim Walker will be officiating. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater, OK. The family has entrusted Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home with the arrangements. The family also requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mercy Hospital Oncology Department in Oklahoma City.
