Rebecca Kay Owen, 42, of Kansas City passed away peacefully on June 3, 2016 at NorthCare Hospice House. Becca was born October 3, 1973 in Colorado Springs, CO.
She was talented and artistic in many areas. She could envision beauty in ordinary things and had a talent for bringing them to life. She loved her flowers and excelled at bringing dying plants back to health and beauty. She had a tender spot in her heart for cats, dogs and her backyard deer, rabbits and turkeys.
Becca was a rabid fan of the Denver Broncos, KU Jayhawks and the Kansas City Royals. She enjoyed good natured bantering on Facebook with her MU and Chiefs friends. She almost won the trifecta in sports over the past year with her Broncos winning the Super Bowl and the Royals winning the World Series. Unfortunately her Jayhawks didn’t come through for her.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Claud and Margaret Owen, Betty and Wayne George, and Herchal McCullough, all of Princeton, MO.
She is survived by her parents Larry and Randi Owen; other immediate family Tylor Owen (Adam)Gardino; Risa Arsenault, Sunny, Stella and Chloe of Colorado Springs; Rachel Owen(Joe) Lestorti, and Isabella of Alexandria, VA. She is also survived by uncle Rick (Franny) George, Atlanta, GA; her Kansas City family of aunts (“moms”) Vicki George and Patricia McCarty, (“Sissy”) Paula McCarty, James Haasch, Isabella and Samantha Haasch who dearly loved and adored their Auntie Becca, and her constant feline companion, Lucy.
“It’s the circle of life, and it moves us all, through despair and hope, through faith and love, ‘til we find our place on the path unwinding.” From The Lion King.
Private services will be held at a later date. The family suggests contributions to North Care Hospice. Donations may be mailed to KCHPC, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114.
