Mr. and Mrs. William Thieman Joint Funeral Services held Monday.
After having lived together for 61 years , Mr. and Mrs. William Thieman of Marble Rock, died Saturday morning within four hours of each other. Joint funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home under the direction of the Rev. Loren W. Inman of Marion, and the couple was buried in West Side cemetery of Marble Rock. Mrs. Thieman, age 79, died about 4:00 o'clock Saturday morning of old age and complications, and at 8:40 Mr. Thieman died of pneumonia, contracted a couple of days previous. Mrs. Thieman had been an invalid for years. She had been unable to leave her bed since last December having suffered a fall.
Mr. Thieman was a native of Germany, born in the old country
in 1849, and came to this country in 1868. He lived two years in Wisconsin and came to Iowa in 1870, and moved to a farm west of Marble Rock in 1894. Mrs. Thieman was born near
Marble Rock, the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Michiel Carbiener, in 1861.
The couple was married in 1879, and became the parents of nine children, six of whom survive the parents. They include Mrs. Anna Schietrumph of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; Arnold Thieman of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; Ernest Thieman, Clyde Thieman, Earl Thieman, and Mrs. George Ackley, all of Marble Rock.
There are also 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Thieman leaves one sister, Mrs. Louise Heise of Algoma and Mrs. Thieman is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Mills of Marble Rock and Mrs. Sarah Schrabb of Phoenix. Arizona, and three brothers, Mike Carbiener of Long
