Janie Rice Martin, 105, of Shellman died Sunday June 5, 2016 at Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday June 7, 2016 in East View Cemetery in Shellman with the Rev. Olin Johnson officiating.
Mrs. Martin was born Sept. 25, 1910 in Calhoun County Ga. the daughter of the late Ike and Ida Rice. She was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church for over 80 years. “Miss Janie” was a dedicated gardener who loved working with her many Day Lilies. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband J. M. Martin and eight siblings.
Survivors include a son James “Jimmy” L. Martin and his wife Sara of Shellman, 2 Grandchildren Lynn Kerr and her husband Warren of Harvard MA. and Jenny Logan and her husband Brad of Woodstock Ga. 2 Great Granddaughters, Kaleigh and Jillian Logan; a sister Deane Peacock of Raleigh, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6-7 PM Monday June 6, at Curry Funeral Home.
