** In Loving Memory of Angie **
Angie will be missed, loved and remembered forever in the hearts
of all who loved her. Angie grew up in So. Mpls. She grew up living with her
Parents and Siblings. Angie graduated from the Mpls Vo. Tech
High School that was once located across from the
Mpls Convention Center and Central Lutheran Church.
(330 S. 12th St Mpls). Angie had many good memories of her
elementary school and high school days. She loved her Parents,
Siblings, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, her Friends and
her Beloved late Spouse Ray with all her heart. She loved
to talk about her happy childhood memories with her Parents
and Siblings and the fun she had as an adult. We
spent countless hours working on her family history as
we created the Memorials together for her late Beloved
Family. Angie worked many years at the Flame Nightclub
until it closed abt 1978 and then she moved onto work at
Danny's Nightclub in S. Mpls. Most of Angie's career
she waitressed and was a hostess at the Flame,
and later a waitress at Danny s Nightclub. . She loved to talk
about how important the Flame was in her life. The Flame was
formerly located at 16th & Nicollet S. Mpls MN was often featured as the
Minnesota Country Western Music Scene and sited as the
Mecca of Country Music in Minnesota in the 1950's and 1960's.
The Flame and the previous owner/affiliate "Kid Cann" (nickname)
had a very interesting history in Mpls MN. Angie said she stayed out of
office politics. The former owner or affiliate, "Kid", or one of
his relatives , well known in Minnesota, sold the Flame,
early in Angie's career or before she started working there.
Early in her Career, young Angie was very impressed that
"Kid" left her $100 tips many times when she waitressed for his
table... "Kid" was popular for tipping well back then...
It did not appear Angie was aware of the former wealthy Flame
owners or affiliated history per our conversations about the Flame
Nightclub history.. Angie loved talking about all the many
Country Music Greats she met when they performed at the Flame.
Angie said the Flame had a huge stage that was hydraulic
designed via the floor. Angie and her Sister Pearl loved Country
Western Music and both saw and met many big country
western talents. Angie loved to talk about her wonderful
life experiences meeting the many historical celebrities
while she worked at the Flame Nightclub. Angie and beloved
Sister Pearl were also "music promoters or admirers" of
a Friend of the Family and they went to see his band play in
Wisconsin and other areas. Pearl and Vic Moore helped the
the young man get his first new guitar. He practiced his music
at Pearl and Victor Moore's Centuria Wisconsin home
and in their backyard broom shop after hours. Angie, Members
of our Family, Friends gathered at Pearl and Victors home often.
In the late 60's the young man performed early in his career at
Family Events at Pearl and Victor's Home in Wisconsin.
Angie was the fourth born of five Jacobson Children. Angie talked
often about her cherished Memories of her late beloved older Sister
Pearl from throughout their lives. Angie was a big fan of Hank Williams,
Tex Ritter and other Country Greats Music. In Angie's honor, a Family
Friend sung a beautiful Hank Williams Song at Angie's Memorial
and played guitar.. (amongst other favorite hymns and songs sung
by those at Angie's Memorial at Augustana. )
Angie was smart, witty, beautiful and once had much energy.
Before she became ill Angie was vibrant and active at events
with Family and Friends. Angie once had many friends. She
loved her family and friends. Angie also loved animals,
especially cats and dogs. She enjoyed visits when people
brought their pets. Family brought two friendly dogs to
Angie's Memorial in her honor. Angie also loved birds, especially
cardinal birds and nature. Angie was married twice,
first to Mr. Thompson in 1970 . Her first marriage ended in divorce
in 1978, . Angie was a Step Parent while she was married to Mr. Thompson
and lost communication after the divorce. Angie did not
have any children but she had many nieces and nephews she adored.
Angie remarried later to the love of her life Ray. Ray and Angie
had a home at 2015 Elliot Ave S. Mpls. They lived close to where
Angie grew up. Ray owned and operated a Venetian Window Blind
business in Mpls. Angie was seriously ill with diabetes and heart
issues many years. Ray was very good to Angie. He was too
ill himself to care for her at home. Ray remained living in their home when
Angie needed more care and Angie went to stay at Augustana.
Angie spent many years living at the Augustana Care Center.
Ray became seriously ill and he then stayed at Augustana for
a while before he passed away in 2012. Both Ray and Angie
passed away at Augustana Care Center. Ray and Angie stayed
in different rooms at the Care Center. They could have asked
to stay in the same room but Angie said she didn't want to
have Ray worry about her health as he was getting care
for his own medical issues at the care center. Both needed
much medical care at that time. Angie and Ray spent time
together at Augustana and went back to their own rooms.
Angie had difficulty coping with losing her lower right
leg below the knee from diabetes. Angie continued to
have many serious progressive diabetes related medical issues.
She never liked having to be careful about what she ate.
She loved sweets and said was careful when she ate her
favorite candy black licorice and cinnamon gummy bears.
Angie eventually got her own private room at Augustana
two years ago. She had her tiny room set up like a little
efficiency apt. She was able to watch her T.V. and play
her music without disturbing a room mate. Angie did
not like living at a Care Center or losing her independence.
The very small private room overlooking the roof was much
better than the shared room where she only had a small
corner section area for many years. It was very difficult to live
at the Augustana Nursing Care section so many years.
Angie was too ill for assisted living as she had too
many care needs. We tried to assist Angie to move
into a a more independent setting, but that didn't work
out due to her multiple care needs. Angie had many Family
photos on her Care Center room wall, a little refrigerator.
She had her angel figurines on her nightstand by her t.v. and radio.
She once had a huge collection of angel figurines at her home that there was no
room for at the Care Center. The very small private room helped make Angie's
stay there more tolerable for her. It was so difficult for many years sharing
a room with so many others who were very ill. Angie was a very active woman all
her life until she lost her part of her leg. She was a vibrant beauty queen
in her day and had issues coping with her illness. Her Sisters Pearl and Carole
looked out for her. Pearl passed away in 2013. Angie's sister Carole
was very good to Angie, handled all her personal affairs, visited Angie often,
took care of Angie's Final Affairs and organized Angie's Memorial. Angie was
very thankful for all her Sister Carole did for her. Angie was devastated when her
beloved Spouse Ray and her Sister Pearl passed away. Angie passed away
peacefully in her sleep at Augustana, a short time after a visit with Family
on Mothers Day. Angie always called her Parents "Mamma and Daddy"
as she spent hours talking about them and other Family
to this writer. Angie had many happy, wonderful childhood memories
with her Parents and Siblings. Angie cherished her many happy memories
throughout her life that included her family and friends. Up until
Angie became ill she had a vibrant, healthy active life. She loved to
talk about her many wonderful cherished memories. After she
became seriously ill Angie rarely left her Care Center Room for many
years except medical appts. Family and friends encouraged Angie to
go outside, attend events, do fun activities, but she usually declined
as she didn't feel well. Angie felt at peace with death for many years
and talked about being ready to to join her Parents, Spouse and
Sister in Heaven when God decided it was her time. Angie was so very
ill for so long. Angie grew up in the Lutheran Church and the Augustana
Minister spent time with Angie. Angie's Sister Carole visited
her often and helped her with her with many tasks. None of this was
easy for Angie being as independent as she once was. Angie was still very
mentally independent, very smart and opinionated, but very ill.
Angie and this writer spent hours after her Sister Pearl passed
away in 2013 talking about Family History and trying to make sure
all her late beloved relatives had Findagrave Memorials. She
finally got an electric wheel chair and we were always talking
about going on a stroll around the area she lived and grew up in
near Augustana. She didn't know anyone else willing to stroll around the inner
city area Franklin Ave S. Mpls with her or who could keep up with her when
she used her electric wheelchair. Angie loved the Phillips Neighborhood
and had many happy memories there. This writer was glad to do this with her,
but she never felt well enough to do it. Angie joked that she never
moved far away from where she was born and lived all of her life.. Augustana
was in her same So. Mpls Phillips neighborhood area she lived all her life.

Angie loved flowers and loved to get them at the Care Center. She had lots
of vases. Writer brought her a huge bag of lilacs to share on Mothers
Day a couple years ago and she had enough vases to showcase them all.
Angie loved the peony flowers that writer brought to her, especially
with buds so she could keep them going for about a week..It was amazing she
could keep the cut flowers alive and get more flowers from the buds..
This writer brought many flowers on many occasions and enough for many other
Care Center Residents...She was so funny about that as it appears she
liked to be the one with all the lovely flowers and wasn't happy that
writer gave to so many others too. She did not participate in the
"flower party" we had in the Augustana 4E Dining room when writer brought
many bakery crates full of flowers. The other Residents were so happy.
We filled many vases that the residents, staff and writer provided and had a
flower party event making sure all those on that floor, and other Care Center
Residents got flowers. Every time writer brought flowers many other
residents were so thrilled to get them too so it was fun for writer.
Heartwarming that such a little gesture as giving someone a garden
flower ( or a vase of flowers) could make someone so happy.
Angie was was also blessed to have visits from Family and Friends
when many other Residents didn't. Angie liked to have flowers in
her room and remembered her garden from when she grew up and when she
and Ray had their home... It made Angie feel special to show off all
her flowers to visitors. Angie said her Mom, as talented as she was was
could never get peonies to grow so big... sand soil didn't work so well...
Her Mother Alma had a huge garden and was an avid gardener. Angie was always
excited to receive the big peonies. Angie liked to roses too..Writer brought
many flowers to Angie's Memorial in her Memory and enough to give to other
Care Center Residents who attended her Memorial or were in the dining area.
In Memory of Angie.

Angie is survived by her three Siblings, their Spouses, many
Nephews and Nieces, many other Relatives,
Friends in Minnesota, California, Wisconsin and around the USA.
