Funeral services for Mr. Paul Edward Ramsey, Sr., age 75 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, June 7th at 11 a.m. at Church on the Hill. Interment will follow in Gath Cemetery in Warren Co. Paul Ramsey, Jr. will officiate.
Mr. Ramsey's family will receive friends Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at Church on the Hill.
Mr. Ramsey died Saturday morning, June 4, 2016 at his residence.
He was born June 18, 1940 in Jackson Co., TN to the late Robert Lee and Ethel Pauline Barrett Ramsey. At age 4, his family moved to Warren Co. TN and he was a 1958 graduate of Dibrell High School. He graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1962 with a degree in math. He served as a Captain in the US Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Paul was an accomplished entrepreneur and businessman. He was owner of One Hour Martinizing franchises in Athens and Cookeville, TN and partner with Aquatech, formerly a prewash denim company in Cookeville, and later with PrePak Systems.
Most notably, Paul was a man of deep faith and was devoted to his family. He was a former member of Cookeville First Baptist Church, Trinity Assembly and currently a member of Church on the Hill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Cordell Ramsey, Bobby Fred Ramsey and Thorold Ramsey.
He is survived by his adoring family, his wife of 55 years, Sarah Hale Ramsey; daughters, Jenny Lynne Carter and Susannah (Britt) Akers; son, Paul (Elizabeth) Ramsey, Jr., all of Cookeville; grandchildren, Eli (Katie) Akers, Judah (Lindsey) Akers, Annie (Jesse) Williams, AJ Carter, Rita Ramsey, Pete Ramsey, Ruth Ann Ramsey and Sarah Bette Ramsey; sisters, Robbie Davis of McMinnville, Wanda (James) Dexter of Cookeville and Melinda (Sam) Womack of McMinnville.
Eli Akers, AJ Carter, Judah Akers, Pete Ramsey, Britt Akers, Dr. Toney Hudson and Richard Grogan will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Church on the Hill, 3001 Phillips Cemetery Rd., Cookeville, TN 38506.
