Marjorie Pauline Penter, 65, of DeKalb, died Thursday, April 12, 1984, at the Shabbona Nursing Home.

She was born July 10, 1918, in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Lillie (Selby) Salsberry. She married William C. Peter on October 21, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa.

She attended school in Knoxville, later attending the Thompson Beauty School in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Faith and the Foursquare Gospel Church in DeKalb. She was employed for many years at Malone's department store in DeKalb, where she received an award as "Clerk of the Week" on December 6, 1958.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Joyce Gunderson of Rockford; one son-in-law, Dale Gunderson of Rockford; a granddaughter, Stacey Anne Gunderson of Rockford; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Phipps of Morrilton, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Foursquare Gospel Church with the Rev. Dennis Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.

Visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 7 until 9 p.m. today at the Wirtz-Roche-Smith Funeral Home in DeKalb.
