Lowrenza Dow was on his death bed and family and friends, as was the custom then, were sitting up with him around the clock. The noon meal was being put on the table and a hot pot of coffee was also on the table. Little Winfield, who was the apple of Lowrenza eye, pulled the table cloth off and the coffee burned him to death. Lorenza kept asking for the baby and finally they told him he was asleep and he replied he knew that and that was what he had been waiting for and he then died shortly after that conversation.

Percy never married but I remember him as a very quite and gentle man. He always lived at home with Ma and was very pampered. All the Arnold men were very spoiled!!!

Winfield, Amazon and Raymond Rankin died as infants.

Jesse died at seven years of age. His pictures seem to indicate he had cerebral palsy. He was referred to as being "afflicted". A story of Ma falling from a wagon with him in her arms when he was a baby, caused the problem. This was never confirmed but a head injury could have left him in this condition.
