Stanley Eugene Daves, Lifetime resident of Dove Creek, passed on from this world May 28, 2016 at the age of 62. Stanley was in the process of moving his 1966 John Deer 4020 from one field to another when his tractor was struck by a truck traveling at a high rate of speed. The impact caused the tractor to roll and came to rest on top of Stanley who later died at the scene.

On January 15, 1954, the world welcomed Stanley Daves with open arms. Stanley was the tenth of twelve children born to Floyd and Glennis Daves. The large family lived on 1st. street in Dove Creek until Stanley reached the fourth grade and then moved west of town to a loving home where one could always find a hot meal and engage in conversation, otherwise known as the Daves Farm. As a young youth, Stanley was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed playing football. At the age of 16 he began farming his own ground while working alongside his father and brothers.

During his Junior year in High School, Stanley met Debbie Neely. They later married and moved to Idaho Springs where Stanley began his second professional pursuit as a miner at the Henderson Mine. It was during this time that Stanley's life changed significantly as he became a father to son Travis Daves and accepted Christ as his Savior. Shortly thereafter Stanley returned to Dove Creek where his family grew, adding a daughter, Mandy and two sons, Dallas and Trent Daves. Stanley became active in the Cahone Church, worked in multiple trades and continued to both farm and mine throughout
the years. Stanley and Debbie divorced in 2000.

Stanley was a lifelong fan of Merle Haggard and the Dallas Cowboys. He was also a committed father who taught his children the value of hard work and kindness. A unique combination of love and laughter became a cornerstone in Stanley's life around the time he met Charlotte Ford (Holly)
Ford: their happiness was contagious and noted by all who encountered them. The couple married on December 31, 2006 and this union redefined life and love as they both knew it;
they were blessed with a total of sixteen years together. Stanley and Charlotte worked side by side in ownership of the Dove Creek Dinner Bell where Stanley became a biscut-making, joke-playing, fun-loving fixture in the lives of many patrons. Stanley was a mainstay for the children and grandchildren that he and Charlotte shared, ensuring that each child young and old would always know both love and laughter of the greatest measure.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Charlotte Daves, his children Travis (Emily) Daves, Amanda Daves, Trent Daves, Danelle Daves Ford, DJ Ford, Erin Ivie, and Nikki Daves; his 12 grandchildren; his siblings Earlene (Jack) White, Marlin (Kay) Daves, Kay Daves, Eddie (Peggy) Daves, Woody (Arlene) Daves, Linda (Paul) Rhmert; His sisters-in-law Imogene Daves, Susie Daves and Margaret Daves, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Gelennis Daves, his son Dallas, his sisters Beverly Wood and Neta Dungan, and his brothers James, Wayne and Bobby Joe.
