Tyra Christensen Gilbert, 85, of Bancroft, Idaho, passed away Monday, January 17, 2000 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs, Idaho.

She was born August 23, 1914, at Fairview, Idaho, the daugher of Harris and Robenia Vida Bodily Christensen. She was raised and educated at Fairview, Idaho; she had also lived at Chesterfield, Blackfoot and Bancroft, Idaho. She graduated from Bancroft High School.

She married Milton L. Gilbert January 26, 1935 at Bountiful, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.

Tyra was a member of the Bancroft LDS First Ward. She had served in the Primary, MIA, Relief Society and as music conductor, as well as many other positions through the years. She was an avid genealogist and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, music and her family.

Tyra is survived by her husband, Milton, two sons and one daughter and their spouses, Lyle C. Gilbert, Morro Bay, CA, Craig C. and Roberta Gilbert, Woodward, OK, and Shauna and Monte Yost, Bancroft, ID; also eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; five brothers and one sister, Adrian Christensen, Salt Lake City, UT, LaMar Christensen, LeGrand, OR, Odell Christensen and Clyde Christensen, both of Orem, UT and Max Christensen, Soda Springs, ID and Gayle Gardner, also of Orem, UT. She was preceded in death by four brothers and a granddaughter, Julie Gilbert Rapp.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 21, 2000 at noon at the Bancroft, Idaho LDS Chapel with Bishop Glen Schenk officiating. Friends may call on Thursday evening, Jan. 20, at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday at the Bancroft chapel from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
