Jerome D. "Jim" Abrahamson, 70, Minot, died Saturday, February 18, 2006 in a Minot hospital.

Jim was born December 17, 1935 in Berthold, ND, the son of Bert and Wilma (Vesey) Abrahamson. He was raised on the family farm in rural Tagus. He was educated in a country school until the eighth grade and then went to Tagus School where he graduated in 1953. After graduation he stayed on the family farm to help his dad with the farming.

From 1958 through 1959 Jim worked for Stewart Construction, doing road work.

In 1960, Jim married his beloved wife Clarice Howell. They lived in Underwood while Jim was doing dirt work for the North Dakota Fish Hatchery. In 1961 and 1962 Jim was stationed in Fort Riley, KS, where he fulfilled his service in the Army National Guard. In 1962 they moved back to the family farm and started his farming and ranching years.

Due to an auto accident his farming years were cut short. Jim and Clarice retired and moved to Minot in 1987.Jim Abrahamson rodeo

Jim was an avid baseball fan and he never missed his Braves play. He was always up for a visit or a game of pinochle with friends and enjoyed going to his grandkids baseball games.

His kids and grandkids meant the world to Jim. He was so proud of their accomplishments and always gave them boundless love and support.

Jim and his family got involved in rodeos in 1974, helping out Darrel Meyer and the Figure 4 Rodeo Company at various rodeos. This eventually evolved into Abrahamson Rodeo Company, where Jim was their best supporter, never missing a rodeo.

You always knew he would be in the front row watching the grandkids doing their jobs and watching the bulls buck.

Jim and Clarice were blessed with three sons and four grandkids.

Jim was a member of Shell Creek Lutheran Church, rural Plaza. He was a member of the Berthold American Legion, the North Dakota Stockman's Association and the Rough Rider Rodeo Association. He was a former member of the Moose and Elks Lodges and the Eagle's Aerie, all in Minot.

Survivors: Wife, Clarice, Minot; sons, Kevin Abrahamson and his special friend, Tara, Minot; Kelly (Judy) Abrahamson, Berthold and Kacey (Kristie) Abrahamson, Velva; four grandchildren, Kyle, Maci, Tate and Callen; sisters, Betty (Vaughn) Bloom, Stanley; brothers, Otto Abrahamson, Yerington, NV, Roy (Mary) Abrahamson, Blaisdell, Norris Abrahamson and his friend Ethel, Minot, and Robert "Bob" Abrahamson and his friend Diane, Bottineau; uncles, Ranald and Ronald Vesey, both of Stanley; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.
