Funeral service for Lionel Joseph Berthelot, age 76, of Oak Grove, Louisiana will be 2PM Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Goodwill Church of God, Goodwill, Louisiana with Rev. Paul Ninemire and Rev. Billy Castilaw officiating.
Burial will be in the Ravan Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home, Oak Grove, Louisiana.
Mr. Berthelot was born October 16, 1939 and died May 22, 2016.
For much of his life, he worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He also drove a potato chip truck and owned and operated a hot shot truck driving business. Later in life he became a rancher and cattleman. He was also considered a professional crawfish peeler and eater. He often peeled crawfish for those who were much slower. He taught his children this craft, a trait which they still value today. He has been a resident of West Carroll Parish since 1979 where he was a member of the Goodwill Church of God and the West Carroll Cattleman's Association.
He is preceded in death by his father, Amaluce Morrise Berthelot; mother, Gladys Berthelot; father-in-law, Willie Drannon Irby; mother-in-law, Katie Lou Bowman Irby; sister, Lorena Berthelot Morrow; sister, Odile Berthelot Hoover; brother, Robert Berthelot Sr, and brother, Lloyd Berthelot.
