ROCHESTER -- The funeral Mass for Kathy Powell will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Resurrection Catholic Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Powell, 47, a lifelong resident of Rochester, died Sunday (Oct. 22, 2006) at Saint Marys Hospital.
Kathy DeWitte was born Nov. 18, 1958, in St. Cloud, Minn. She graduated from Rochester Mayo High School, Rochester Community College and the Augsburg College of Nursing in Minneapolis. She was a nurse and had worked at Saint Marys Hospital since 1993. In 1980, she married Mark Powell, and they later divorced. She married Joe Rabine in 1996 in Laughlin, Nev. Mr. Rabine worked for AMPI for 34 years; he survives. She was also a member of the American Psychiatric Nursing Association and enjoyed gardening, crafts, camping and shopping for her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Jesse Aaron Powell of Chatfield; a stepson, Michael Rabine of Seattle; a stepdaughter, Chris (David) Walters of Rochester; five grandchildren; her mother, Shirley DeWitte of Rochester; three brothers, Michael (Mary) DeWitte of Delano, Minn., Daniel (Linda) DeWitte of Buffalo, Minn., and Charles (Mary) DeWitte of Hayfield; and three sisters, Susan DeWitte of Rochester, Annette (Kenneth) Bunn of Seattle and Jeannine (Dennis) DeWitte of Luray, Kan. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, and an hour before the service Thursday at the church. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are preferred to The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill in care of the family, 20 12th Ave. S.E., Rochester, MN 55904.
