"You say, "Henry C. Hastings, Sr. was the 1st son and the 1st child of George and Sarah Hastings.". What evidence do you have? To best of my knowledge (researching southside Virginia Hastings since 1995) there is no evidence that proves this statement. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE FTDNA HASTINGS SURNAME tests show there is no blood relationship between desc. of Henry Hastings of Orange Co., NC and the Hastings of southside Virginia. To show you that I have been a long time southside Virginia Hastings family researcher please go to https://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/hastings/2346/. It was while I was looking up records on Hastings in Caswell County, NC and Warren Co, NC that I discovered, much to my surprise and then at the surprise of all the Henry C Hastings that Henry and his sons were tTories until near the end of ARW when they changed allegiance to the Patriot cause. While Henry's sons, including Joseph, were fighting for the British the southside Virginia Hastings were fighting for the patriot cause and and had supported it long before the war started. PLUS, you say Henry was the only son of George. That's not true. Per tax amd other records, George Hastings of southside Virginia had 2 sons, William and Henry and a daughter named Mary that we know of . THAT Henry Hastin was married 2x. His 1st wife was a Coleman by whom he had son Joseph, believed to have had a son named Robert that may have moved to Madison Co., AL . By his 2d wife Aggy he had 8 identified children, some of whom, including Absalom, fought in ARW. So you see, your Henry was not s/o George and Sarah - I'm happy to discuss, but please do remove the statement claiming Henry C. Hatings of Orange Co., NC to George Hastings and Sarah Drake. Thanks for your help. Ruth Hasten Walsh - [email protected] - email me, if you'd like a copy of the Timelog excell spreadsheet of early Hastings records."
