A native of Cherokee County, SC, son of the late John Henry Alewine (1873–1946) and Eva Lee Phillips Alewine (1878–1948); husband of Cecile Harbin Alewine (1911–2006).
A member of Prospect Baptist Church and a retired employee of Duke Power after 30 years.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mary Alewine Ramsey; sister, Lydia Polly Alewine Neal (1901–1991); brothers, Lawrence O Alewine (1903–1979) and Marion Frank Alewine (1908–1979); and two grandchildren.
Also predeceased by a sister, Bertha Alewine Ivester (1900–1965).
Services were held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 15, 1975, at Prospect Baptist Church by Rev. Harold J. Mason and Rev. Melvin W. Stalling; burial in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, Monday, April 14, 1975, at Forest Lawn Mortuary, Chesnee, SC.
