Edward Baptist died at Chicago on Thursday and the remains were brought here for burial, arriving on Saturday morning accompanied by Charles and John Baptist, brothers of the deceased.

Edward Baptist was 52 years old at the time of his death and was born in this city in what is now the First Ward. He was a son of th elate Ben Baptist and made his home here until about three years ago, when he went to Chicago to make his home with his brothers, who are engaged in the draying business. He was well known to many of the residents here. Only about three months ago he paid a visit to this city, at which time he was in poor health.

The funeral was held on Saturday forenoon, the remains being interred at Nasewaupee cemetery, Rev. J. S. Ellis of the M. E. Church officiating at the service.
