Death of Mrs. Torrey

Willet, Oct. 7-Mrs. Addie Kinsman Torrey passed away Sept.29 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lucy Alexander in Pitcher. She had been ill and confined to her bed about two years.

Mrs. Torrey was the oldest daughter of Monroe and Lucy Ann Brown Kinsman, both deceased. She was born March 31, 1858 and married Lucius Torrey, Nov. 20, 1878; to them four daughters and one son were born. Nellie, the oldest daughter, did May 15, 1900. Mrs. Gertrude Fowlston of Smithville Flats, Mrs. Mildred Strough of Willet and Monroe Torrey of Greene; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren survived her; also one brother Cyrus Kinsman of Greene.

The funeral was held Friday at Willet Methodist church with Rev. Philip French of Cincinnatus, officiating. Burial was in Wilet cemetery. The bearers were Benjamin Strough, Bernard Strough, Monroe Torrey, Leslie Torrey, Glenn Silvernail and Leon Fowlston.

Among those from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stanbrook and three children of Cortland, Mrs. Ethel Price of Oneonta, Mrs. Sophie Kukys of Syracuse, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Silvernail and Mrs. Alfred Alexander of Binghamton, Mrs. Leon Fowlston of Oxford.

Mrs. Torrey was the widow of Lucius Torrey of German. Her daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Fowlston, Mrs. Walter Alexander, and Mrs. Ben Strough were with her at the time of her death. Her son, Monroe Torrey of Greene, and brother, Cyrus Kinsman also of Greene, with her three daughters survive. The funeral was held at the church Friday. Rev.Philip French officiated. Burial was in Willet Cemetery.

Friends were present from Cortland, Greene, Oxford, Pitcher, Hamilton, German and Willet.
