James Robert Dodson Carlson age 33 of Constantine, Michigan passed away tragically early Saturday morning July 4, 2015 in Constantine Township due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born September 29, 1981 in Sturgis, Michigan son of Randy and Penny (Carlson) Dodson.
Jim resided in Constantine for the past 17 years. Before moving to Constantine he lived in Mendon and was a graduate of Mendon High School with the class of 2000.
He was currently employed by Banks Hardwoods, Inc. in Mottville. He also worked several years at Mayer Tool and Engineering in Sturgis and Syndicate Systems in Middlebury, Indiana.
Jim was a member of the Heritage Trail H.O.G. Chapter #2155 and enjoyed riding his Harley, traveling, camping, going to the dunes, watching Christmas movies and the Dukes of Hazard and sharing bonfires with his many friends. Jim had many interests and hobbies, but what he truly cherished was times he spent with his family, especially his children and his fiancée.
He is survived by his parents: Penny and Marc Baker of Sturgis and Randy and Theresa Dodson of Sturgis; his fiancée: Kaleena Patten of Constantine whom he planned to marry in early October 2015; his children: Emily, Austin, Dillon, Alexis, Raegan and Langston all of Constantine; four sisters: Amy (John) Smith of Three Rivers, Pam Dodson of Detroit, Autumn Baker of Sturgis and Ashley (Butch) Dodson of Sturgis; two brothers: Randy (Courtney) Dodson of Bronson and Ryan Dodson of Sturgis; grandparents: Robert and Sonia Carlson of Detroit and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles including his uncle and aunt: Grant and Jamie Kilbourn of Detroit.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, M I 49091, 269-651-3284. Funeral services celebrating Jim's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Sturgis Wesleyan Church, 907 N. Nottawa Rd. in Sturgis. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
