Lizton resident, formerly of Jamestown.

Passed away at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.

Son of Walter and Vernia McCormick Beam.
Married Katherine Scobee September 20, 1941. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons Walter (Janet), Donald (Estelle) and Richard (Ginger) Beam; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graduate of Bainbridge High School.
Attended Indiana Central Business College.

Inducted into the US Army in November 1941 and sent to Fort Benjamin Harrison, and discharged Nov. 10, 1945 at Camp Atterbury. He served in the European Theatre from Feb. 10, 1944 to Sept. 15, 1945 as a Chief Warrant Officer with the 44th armored infantry 6th Armored Division.

Owned the Jamestown Lumber Company and was an active general contractor up until the age of 95 building several homes and renovating several buildings in the Jamestown area.

Sponsored the Ralph and Katherine Beam scholarship fund at Western Boone Jr.-Sr. High School.

Memberships include American Legion Post 395, Hazelrigg Lodge 200, Scottish Rite and United Methodist Church of Jamestown.

Funeral services 5pm Sunday, May 2 at Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown with Rev. William Byrd officiating. Visitation 3-7pm Saturday and 3pm until time of service.

Memorial donations to the American Legion Post 395, Hazelrigg Lodge 200 or the Jamestown United Methodist Church.
