This world, on May 18, 2016, lost a very kind, sweet, gentle, loving, compassionate Christian, endearing, understanding, and great, yet, very humble man. Mosby Clark Toms, 95, entered into his eternal heavenly home, due to natural causes.

He was born December 5, 1920, son of the late, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Toms, Sr. His wife, Mary Elizabeth Toms, preceded him in death in September of 2014.

Mr. Toms is survived by his loving daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Toms.

Mr. Toms had many nephews, P. Michael Toms, Emmett Toms Jr., Donald Toms, Robin Toms, James Toms, Gregory Toms, and Scott Rhodes. His nieces included Rebecca Andrews, Patricia Smith, Carolyn Montgomery, Joan FitzHugh, Kathryne Marple, and Ellen Anderson.

In October, 1942, Mosby became a soldier of World War II, in the 83rd division of the Army. His division landed at Normandy on June 10, 1944. He achieved five battle stars while serving in the 1st, 2nd, and 7th armies until VE Day, when he crossed the Elbe River and met the Russians. Mosby was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Presidential Citation.

Mr. Toms was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as Treasurer of the Sunday School, a chapel choir member, a deacon, an elder and a trustee. He was a member of the Witness Committee and helped serve "Meals On Wheels", with his wife Mary.

Mosby worked in Portsmouth, Va. for the Stone and Webster Company, building a plant for Dominion Virginia Power. He also worked in Kinston, N.C. on their DuPont plant. Mosby retired from American Safety Razor Company in Verona, with 30 years of service.

Mr. Toms was a member of Lee Lodge #209, receiving his 50th year pin, July of 2015. He was also a member of the ACCA Temple, in Richmond, the Scottish Rite in Lynchburg and the American Legion Post 340. Mosby also served as the president of the Waynesboro Shriners Club for a number of years.
