American Singer and Songwriter. Clark was a songwriter whose music influenced a number of musicians over the years. In the early 1960s, he got his start as a musician in Houston, playing folk music alongside other up-and-comers at the time like Mickey Newbury and Townes Van Zandt. In 1971, Clark’s songwriting career started after he signed a publishing deal and moved to Nashville. His debut album, 'Old No. 1' was released in 1975 and featured “L.A. Freeway” and “Desperados Waiting for a Train”. Over the course of his career, he released 14 studio albums, among them 'Texas Cookin' (1976), 'Better Days' (1983), 'Boats to Build' (1992), 'Cold Dog Soup' (1999), 'Workbench Songs' (2006) and 'Songs and Stories' (2011). In 2013, he won a Grammy for best folk album for his final studio album, 'My Favorite Picture of You'. His music influenced a number of musicians over the years. In 2011, a double album called 'This One’s For Him: A Tribute to Guy Clark' was released and featured Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Rosanne Cash, Emmylou Harris and many more covering his songs.
