Clinton Bernhard "Pete" Solbrig was born 21 January 1927 near Fredericksburg, TX, to Kurt and Ferna Wahrmund Solbrig. He attended Fredericksburg High School, then served in the Army during WWII, being stationed in Japan immediately post-war. Pete was very proud of his service, and the opportunity to go on an "Honor Flight" to the WWII Memorial in Washington, DC.

He married Ada Mears on 31 May 1952 in Texico, NM, and they raised two daughters and a son. Ada preceded him in death in 2008.

Pete worked as a farm laborer, then as a welder and pipe fitter.

He was a loving husband and father figure to his children, his nieces and nephews, and the neighborhood kids. He was happiest when surrounded by children. Most of all, he loved being "Opie" to his six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was a Scout leader and loved working in his yard and garden. He will be remembered for his kindness and warm heart.
