Vera I. Brothers, 81 died Thursday, May 12, 2016 at her home in Burlington following a long illness.

She was born on January 19, 1935 in Burlington, VT the daughter of the late Mabel Lacross. Vera was married to Philip F. Brothers on April 18, 1953. Among her many hobbies she especially enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and playing bingo. She will always be remembered for being selfless, her generosity and kindness to others.

She is survived by her husband Philip F. Brothers of Burlington, two daughters, Linda Daily of Burlington, Deborah Liberty of Texas, a special grandson and son they never had, Tim Liberty of Burlington, Rick Dion and Krystle Daily, four great-grandchildren, Justin, Maya, Brianna and Kenna. Many nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by his three siblings, Joe, Jim and George.

The family would like to give special thanks to Peter, Karen, Steve, Patrick and Shelly for making the impossible possible.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday May 18, 2016 at 11:00a.m. in Holy Cross Catholic Church in Colchester. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of Vermont, 55 Day Lane, Williston, V 05495 or to the Humane Society of Chittenden County, 142 Kindness Ct., South Burlington, VT 05403. Arrangements are by Champlain Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski, VT.
